Spring Reflection

Spring is here -ushering in a refreshing sense of optimism and the promise of new beginnings.
Nature comes alive again, with the first hints of green appearing as flowers bloom, trees sprout new leaves, and animals that have spent the winter in hibernation emerge. We see lambs gamboling in fields, butterflies breaking free from their cocoons and baby chicks hatching from their eggs. These sights and sounds of new life are all around us.
We could not resist this gratuitous cute little lamb photo.
Spring isn’t just a time for nature to bloom; it’s also a chance for us to welcome the season of renewal in our own lives. A good spring clean, along with decluttering and reorganizing, can be incredibly cathartic, bringing a renewed sense of energy and purpose.
Spring is not only a season of renewal but also a time for reflection. As we observe the world around us transforming, we’re reminded to pause and take stock of the past few months. It’s an opportunity to assess where we are, envision where we want to be, and look ahead with anticipation. Whether it’s planning a long-awaited holiday, picking up a new hobby, or finally tackling that much-needed DIY project, spring invites us to embrace fresh possibilities and new beginnings.
“ Spring is far more than just a changing of season, it’s a rebirth of the spirit”
Toni Sorenson.
Reflection has two meanings, and now we’ll focus on the more literal interpretation
No matter how hard we try in the office, we can’t help but be captivated by the gleaming, lustrous giftware that passes through on its way to a lucky customer.
Many of our bowls and dishes feature a hammered finish, which creates a highly reflective surface, which will reflect its surroundings sending light and colour scattering in every direction.
Light in the home can be used to create mood, direct attention and highlight a space.
But why are we so drawn to shiny, reflective things ?
Studies suggest that our attraction to reflective, shiny objects may be rooted in evolution. Our ancestors were instinctively drawn to glossy surfaces as a signal of water, fulfilling a basic and primitive survival need.
When we talk about being attracted to shiny objects we immediately think of the Magpie, a bird known for stealing and collecting shiny objects. These are then used to decorate the nest and to attract a mate.
‘I have a magpie mind. I like anything that glitters ‘
Lord Thomson of Fleet.
So, this spring what not explore adding a splash of metallic to your nest ?
Head over to the Coach House Forge and explore the shiny, be sure to browse the Copper and Aluminium ranges if you are looking to inject some spring reflection into your home.
