As we move to the latter end of the year and the Christmas rush starts to build we are going to be looking at our Forge Favourites.
We all have different tastes and styles and we thought it would be fun to share our CHF Team forge favourites with you. A little indulgent but why not it’s nearly Christmas and who knows – it may be your favourite too or we may give you some gifting inspiration for the coming festive season.
Ladies first we will start with Amy Danby – Owner Director
Amy has declared the ‘Candle holder with curved handle’ as her forge fave, affectionately known in the office as the ‘wee willie winkie’
“I love it because it’s practical and beautiful, there is a choice of two designs, plain and a cute heart cut-out and then Chris has added the Limited Edition Festive Tree design into the mix! I am spoiled for choice.
I love them styled as a set of 3 on a rustic wooden plinth.
Candles lit, a large cup of Earl Grey tea, a good book and a blanket – this is my idea of total perfection”
Sally- Customer Services
Next up Sally, having now completed her first year at Coach House Forge, she is absolutely no nearer to settling on ONE favourite piece. She loves them all, especially the shiny gifts, the copper and aluminium. (We think there may be a small amount of Magpie DNA in her mix but this has yet to be confirmed)
When asked today, she has managed to narrow it down to the top three. Unlikely this will be the same three tomorrow so…
“In no particular order. I love the Moments of Calm set. It’s absolutely gorgeous, compact and totally sturdy – you want to buy something that is going to last, you need to get value for your money and I’m still mesmerised by the way the beeswax candles burn, they literally disappear, no drips, no mess, how?
Got to have a Copper Bowl in my top three. I love the light you get from it, the warmth, it is so nice to have a splash of metallic in your decor – it really lifts it. The Medium Hammered Copper bowl is a good all rounder – perfect size and the hammered finish makes it highly reflective. Beautiful.
Finally I have to go with the Copper and Green Monk Bowl set – I just love the colours and the shape of them and I love the contrasting button stud at the bottom.”

Ed – Customer Services.
It was an easy pick for Ed who answered straight away with a confident ‘The Deep Bowl’ When pressed for more information as to why he said “Cos it’s not that deep! but you can fit a lot in it”
And you can’t argue with this logic. This bowl sits beautifully between showstopper centrepiece and practical hallway table catch-all. They are such a popular gift for retirements, weddings and anniversaries. Personalisable too which makes them such a great gift for a milestone occasion.
Ed does not like to talk as much as Sally
Chris Danby – Owner Director Blacksmith.
This is a little bit mean of us to ask Chris to choose his forge favourite. It is a tough question to answer, hard to choose a favourite from a list of projects that you have poured your heart and soul into.
Hard to favour just one when you see every piece through from design concept to finished product ready to ship. But we didn’t let that deter us, we have pinned him down to his absolute favourite and you may be surprised to know it is the Button Bowl – the very first bowl that Chris designed way back when, it is still a popular seller all these years later.
“I love this bowl – originally the inspiration was repairing something that was ‘broken’ in the style of the Japanese art of Kintsugi (Golden Joinery) and to make it more beautiful afterwards. The studs highlight the ‘repair’ and become a lovely feature of the bowl – over the years the design evolved to use aluminium, copper or bronze studs and we now offer 2 different sizes so this design has grown along with us really. “
Adrian – Blacksmith
With a background in the arts we thought that Adrian would choose Aurora – A one of a kind wall art piece he created that was inspired by the sighting of the ‘Northern Lights’ last year. This was sold earlier this year in ‘Drift’ art gallery. However we were wrong.
Adrian chose the pokers as his Forge Favourite.
“I like that I get to use so many different techniques, traditional techniques for the Barley Twist Poker and I love to do the detailed work needed for the Dragon Head Poker. And obviously as the product line expands to include the log roller and stand etc it’s great to see how you can use these traditional skills to make a modern gift – functional art from the anvil.
And it is always nice to picture a poker that you have spent time on in its new home. Sometimes the personalisations give us a little clue to the new owner !”
Richard – Blacksmith
And last but not least we come to Richard, who does a lot of the ‘cold’ work with our aluminium and copper ranges. To keep us on our toes, Richard chose the Iron Wolf Bottle Opener as his forge favourites.
“I chose the bottle opener as it is nice to use the power hammer after the hand hammering of all of the copper and aluminium! Also nice to be able to show off a bit of artistic flair adding in the facial features to each one – no two the same.”
So there you have it, a little glimpse into our favourite products from the forge and a little glimpse into the minds of the Coach House Forge Team.
Now that’s done, let’s get ready for Christmas – Bring it on Santa!
