The Large Iron Bowl

Here at the Coach House Forge we make many different sizes of bowls, this one is our large sized bowl, with a choice of 2 different finishes, smooth or hammered.

The Smooth bowl has a contemporary finish, we use a 19th Century, hand-operated Fly Press – the result is a perfectly smooth appearance that shows off the hues of the metal.

The hammered bowl is made by repeated heating and hammering using traditional tools, skills and experience. This leaves a beautiful textured rustic finish.

Each Bowl is ‘signed’ on the base using the Coach House Forge makers mark. The surface is treated with several coats of ‘Renaissance Wax’ to create an attractive and protective patina. The real beauty of the iron shines through.

The bowl’s designed to have a small flattened base so it can sit proudly on your nightstand, mantelpiece, office desk or entrance table; just the right size for watches, keys, wallets, jewellery, loose change… The perfect catch-all for all our everyday treasures!

Interestingly, each bowl rings like a bell if tapped on the rim – used to announce dinner time in my house!

These metal bowls are really substantial and will last for generations!

195mm (7.75″) diameter, 40mm (1.6″) high, 3mm (1/8″ ) thick, 800g (1.75 Ib) in weight.

Your metal bowl can be personalised to create a totally unique gift. We hand stamp your message using individual vintage letter & number punches.

Smooth bowls are stamped with our contemporary font while the hammered bowls suit the classic font.
