We are delighted to share that we can now release ‘Cosmic Rays’ and ‘Solar Flare’ the new triptych wall art panels by Adrian Smith, for sale exclusively from Coach House Forge.

Adrian Smith

Since joining us in 2020, we have seen Adrian’s care and attention to detail in his daily work and new product design at the forge. However Adrian’s first love of art began at a very young age.   Working with oils and watercolours, Adrian creates plein air landscapes and enjoys painting dogs. With the gorgeous Finn being the subject of many of Adrian’s paintings.

This luxury wall decor brings together Adrian’s artistic creativity and skills from the forge. The result, a contemporary, textured, multi panel set to appreciate and admire for generations to come.  Essentially art from the anvil.

The Canvas

From humble beginnings as pre-cut mild steel sheet, the incredible transformation begins the moment they enter the forge.

Each panel is exposed to prolonged, extreme temperatures exceeding 1,700 degrees celsius .  The careful opening and closing of the forge door interrupts the air flow creating dramatic temperature fluctuations. This perfectly timed process produces the blistered surface that evolves into the panels’ distinctive and beautiful texture. These become the canvas for Adrian’s work beginning with the hand finishing of the surface texture.

This is where skill and experience make the difference, driven by precision and a clear vision of the final piece.

Colour Palette

The steel is now a stunning canvas with deliberate texture giving depth with gradients of black, through to charcoal and stormy greys.

Colours are applied using specialist waxes, carefully mixed and applied with precision.

The celestial inspiration for this artwork appears strongly through Adrian’s choice of colour and tones.

Rich gold and soft fawn tones are elegantly complemented by vibrant vermilion and warm copper accents. These are beautifully balanced with touches of verdigris and a subtle lavender grey.

Using this eclectic palette, Adrian transitions the colour seamlessly across all 3 panels in an aeriel perspective.

Framing

Cosmic Rays is elegantly presented in a wooden floating frame in a simple gunmetal tone that perfectly enhances and complements the piece.
