The cleaned and polished metal surface is coated with a museum grade coating that will protect the metal in dry environments. We do not recommend exposing the keyrings to wet or humid conditions. As always, the best way to preserve the shiny finish is to regularly handle the keyring, the natural oils on your skin will protect the metal surface. They are VERY tactile!
